The temporomandibular joint (the jaw joint in front of the ears) can cause pain and headaches, if the joint does not function properly. This painful affliction produces pain in the muscles and joints of the jaw that sometimes radiates to the face, neck and shoulders. The most common causes are trauma, harmful habits, psychosocial factors, or a misalignment of the teeth. The causes and treatment are often multi-factorial; Dr. Harre has been trained in a conservative, reversible philosophy for treatment of TMJ problems that includes the patient’s active participation in treatment.
